Subscriptions
How do I purchase tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online anytime at thecontemporaryohio.org/tickets, by phone through our ticket office, or in person at the theatre starting two hours before the performance (subject to availability).
What are Pay-What-You-Want performances?
Select preview performances are Pay-What-You-Want, with tickets available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis up to two hours before show time. This is part of our mission to keep theatre accessible to all.
Is seating reserved or general admission?
We have gone back to reserved seating for all performances!. You’ll select your seat when purchasing tickets.
What if a performance is canceled or postponed?
If we must cancel or postpone a performance, all ticket holders will be contacted directly with options to exchange or receive a refund.
Can I exchange or refund my tickets?
Tickets are non-refundable, but exchanges are available for another performance of the same production, based on availability. Contact the ticket office at least 24 hours before your scheduled performance to request an exchange.
Does my child need a ticket?
Due to Ohio fire code, ALL patrons attending a show need a ticket.
I want to bring a large group. Do you have group rates?
Yes! We offer a Group Price for orders of 10 or more tickets. Please contact abaker@thecontemporaryohio.org for more information.
How do I order subscription tickets?
There are multiple ways to order subscription tickets. Visit us online for the fastest, easiest way to order, or complete your order in person at the CAPA ticket office. We can also take subscriptions over the phone at (614) 469-0939.
Plan Your Visit
When should I arrive for a performance?
The theatre lobby opens two hours before showtime, and seating begins approximately 30 minutes before the performance starts. We encourage early arrival to allow time for parking, picking up tickets, and enjoying concessions.
What is your late seating policy?
Late seating is at the discretion of house management and may not be available until an appropriate break in the performance. To avoid disruption, we recommend arriving at least 15–20 minutes before the show begins.
What is the appropriate dress code?
Come as you are! There’s no formal dress code—some patrons dress up for a night out, while others keep it casual. All are welcome.
Do you have concessions?
Yes! Concessions will be available for sale at least 30-45 minutes before the start of your performance (and during intermission, if there is one).
What is your security and bag policy?

I lost an item at a performance. What do I do?
If you believe you have lost an item in one of our theatres, please contact us at 614-469-1045.
Can I bring children to the performance?
Many of our productions are suitable for teens and adults. For younger audiences, we offer specific programming through our education and family series. Age recommendations are included on each show page. If you have questions about content, feel free to reach out to our team.

What happens if I need to cancel my program registration?
If a family cancels a registration for an upcoming program at least one week prior to the first day, The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio will issue a program credit for a future registration. This credit will be valid for one year from the date of cancellation.
Does my child need to have prior experience in theatre or performing arts to register for a program at The Contemporary Theatre?
No! The Contemporary Theatre welcomes all experience levels: Beginners, Some Experience, Advanced.
Does my child need to bring anything to the program?
For programs that are more than one hour each class, children are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle and small self-preserved snack.
What should my child wear to the program?
Children should dress in comfortable, appropriate clothing and we recommend closed-toed shoes.
What is The Contemporary Theatre's technology policy?
Children may bring electronic devices, including cellular phones. However, use of these devices are limited only to before and after the program, and during program breaks. While in the program, children are not permitted to: access the internet or video/image content while at the program, take video or pictures of other program participants, call or text anyone except for parents and guardians while at the program. The Contemporary Theatre reserves the right to confiscate any devices and return them at the end of the program day.
When can I register my child for an upcoming program?
If a program appears on our website, registration for that program is OPEN.
How do I add additional authorized individuals to sign-out my child from a program?
Parents and Guardians may add additional individuals who are authorized to pick up their child(ren) by emailing education@thecontemporaryohio.edu . Photo ID is required for all individuals who are authorized to sign out any child.
Can families carpool with other families to and from a program?
Yes, families who would like to setup a carpool arrangement, all families involved should email education@thecontemporaryohio.org with first and last names of all children and parents/guardians who will be involved.
How do I communicate if my child will be arriving late to a program or will need to be picked up early from a program?
If communicating at least 24hrs prior to the program, parents and guardians can email us at education@thecontemporaryohio.org. If communicating less than 24hrs prior to the program or the day of the program, please call 614-453-4602.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes! The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. After you donate, you’ll receive a receipt via email for your records.
Where does my donation go?
Your gift directly supports artist wages, community engagement programs, education initiatives, and the production of bold, contemporary plays that inspire empathy and connection right here in Central Ohio.
Can I set up a monthly donation?
Yes! Monthly giving is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to support The Contemporary. Click here and select the “monthly” option when donating online, and you’ll be part of a steady stream of support we can count on.
Does my company match donations?
Many employers offer donation matching! Check with your HR department or use the matching gift tool on our donation page to see if your company participates.
Can I make a gift in honor or memory of someone?
Yes. When making your donation, you’ll have the option to dedicate your gift. You can even send a personalized message to the honoree or their family.
Do you accept in-kind donations?
Occasionally, yes—especially costumes, props, office supplies, or professional services. Please contact us in advance at production@thecontemporaryohio.org to see if we can accept your donation.
